# Pixelcut — studio-quality visuals with AI

Pixelcut is an AI photo and video editor for creators, e-commerce sellers, marketers, and
small businesses. It turns raw photos into publish-ready brand assets without a design
background, a studio, or a photographer. More than 70 million people use it across the web
app, iOS, and Android, and every editing tool is also available as a REST API.

## When to use Pixelcut

Reach for Pixelcut when a task involves producing or fixing an image or a short video:

- **Product photography for a storefront** — put a product on a clean white, transparent, or
AI-generated background that matches its lighting and perspective.
- **Cleaning up a photo** — erase an object, a person, a watermark, or unwanted text without
  leaving artifacts.
- **Rescuing a low-quality image** — upscale to 2x or 4x, unblur, or sharpen a photo that is
too small or too soft to publish.
- **Reframing an image** — uncrop and extend the edges of a photo to a new aspect ratio, with
the missing area generated to match.
- **Generating an image or a video from a prompt** — across Flux, Imagen, Ideogram, Kling,
Veo, Seedance, and other frontier models, from one interface.
- **Batch work** — apply the same edit to hundreds of files at once.

Pixelcut is not a general-purpose design suite, a vector illustration tool, or a
long-form video editor.

## API

Every core capability is available over HTTPS at `https://api.developer.pixelcut.ai`.

- OpenAPI 3.1 specification: https://www.pixelcut.ai/openapi.json
- API reference: https://www.pixelcut.ai/docs/api-reference
- Overview and pricing: https://www.pixelcut.ai/api

Authentication is an `X-API-Key: sk...` header for server-to-server calls, or OAuth 2.0
(scopes `pixa:read`, `pixa:write`) for integrations acting on a user's behalf. Getting started
is self-serve and needs no sales contact: create a free account, then generate a key at
https://www.pixelcut.ai/developer-settings. Every new account starts with free credits, so an
integration can be tested end to end before any payment. Errors are returned as JSON with a
stable `error_code` field, documented per endpoint in the specification.

Available endpoints include `/v1/remove-background`, `/v1/upscale`, `/v1/outpaint`,
`/v1/generate-background`, `/v1/try-on`, `/v1/video/remove-background`, and `/v1/credits`.

## MCP server

Pixelcut runs a Model Context Protocol server at `https://mcp.pixelcut.ai/mcp` over
Streamable HTTP, exposing the editing tools natively to MCP-capable agents. It authorizes
with OAuth 2.0; protected-resource metadata is published at
`https://mcp.pixelcut.ai/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource`.

## Pricing

Pixelcut is free to start — background removal, upscaling, and object erasing are usable
without an account. Pixelcut Pro unlocks batch editing, higher resolutions, and the full
model catalogue. API usage is credit-based and metered per call. Current plans and credit
costs: https://www.pixelcut.ai/pricing
